SAEA invites proposals for symposia and workshops at the 2020 National Conference. Symposium and workshop sessions will be allocated two hours in the conference program and should be organized around a specific topic with multiple speakers or collaborating organizers, all of whom are identified at the proposal stage. Symposia are distinguished from other contributed paper sessions in that they are more explicitly integrated, provide an overall synthesis on their topic, and have broad enough appeal to attract a relatively large audience at the meeting. Proposals are expected to align with one of our four meeting tracks: At the Crossroads, Flight and Freedom, Spanning Generations, or Common Ground.
Each symposium will consist of presentations by 4-8 speakers, 12 – 25 minutes in length plus a few minutes for questions and discussion, depending upon the number of speakers. Proposals must include at least 4 confirmed speakers.
Each workshop will be organized by at least 4 collaborators from at least two institutions and will include structured activities for all attending the workshop, with presentations to introduce the topics and activities.
Deadline for submissions is April 15th!
*A call for contributed presentations and posters will follow in a few weeks, so those with a specific presentation in mind need not be part of a workshop or symposium. And as in past SAEA meetings, open space sessions will be scheduled for approximately 1-hour convenings and guided discussions on topics that can be proposed at the conference. The symposium and workshop formats are intended to provide opportunities for teams of conference participants to come together around topics of shared interest.
